East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club:
Providing Hurling for children from the Bailieborough, Kingscourt, Killinkere, Knockbride and Shercock areas since 2009.
Busy week for all and summer arrives for hurling as the clocks change at last...........

Under 8/10; The lads had another great days hurling in Carrick at the blitz. We had 2 under 10 and one under 8 teams this week and they all played really well winning most of their games. You can really see a lot of improvement with these lads from the amount of games they are getting. The last round of Carrick blitzes is next Saturday in the Phoenix Centre, we then move on to the first round of Cavan blitzes. 27 weeks of indoor hurling will then be over! Training moves outdoors at last to St. Anne's Park, the home of Bailieborough Shamrocks CLG from this coming Wednesday from 7.30-8.30. New players are very welcome.

Under 12/14;
Our under 12s got the league under way on Tuesday with the visit of Cootehill Celtic to Kingscourt to play under lights. In a game ECG dominated for the most part, two late Cootehill goals let the visitors escape with the points on a scoreline of ECG 3-00 Cootehill 3-02. The lads made up for this on Friday night when they visited Ballinagh to play St Felims. A dominant display saw ECG run out comfortable winners. The next rounds of the league are the first week of April.

Kingscourt;Special thanks to Pat Faulkner and all at Kingscourt Stars for making their pitch with floodlights available for hurling this week. The Stars under 10 football squad will have hurling introduced alongside their football sessions on Thursdays from early April with a stand alone hurling session for under 8 and 10, if there is sufficient demand, coming in early May.
Bailieborough;We are delighted to announce that hurling makes a very welcome return to Bailieborough CLG when East Cavan Gaels transfer all their training groups to St. Anne's park over the coming weeks starting with our under 8s/10s this coming Wednesday 28th March from 7.30-8.30pm. All our training for all of our teams will be on Wednesdays for the summer season.

This, we hope, will be a very significant move as Bailieborough is the central point in the whole ECG Hurling catchment area. Players from all 5 local GAA clubs, Killinkere, Shercock, Knockbride, Kingscourt and Bailieborough areas are very welcome to attend and we look forward to significantly increasing our membership this year. We would hope that all local CLG clubs would keep Wednesdays free from football activity from under 14 down to under 8 in order to help hurling prosper. Fixtures from the Youth Board ensures there will be no clash of hurling and football fixtures this year so there is ample opportunity for all children attached to football clubs to try hurling on Wednesdays.

We would like to sincerely thank our friends at Killinkere CLG, Bailieborough Celtic AFC and the Community School, Bailieborough for the use of their pitches and facilities over the last 3 years.
