Shamrocks Under Age: Feile 2010:
The under 14s took part in Feile na nOg last weekend where they
put in a tremendous effort and reached the All Ireland semi final.
After winning the first two games against local Derry teams, the
final match in the group was against Blessington, the Wicklow
champions who they beat by two points in a tight contest. They
were then pitted against St Eunan’s from Letterkenny in
the semi final.
After a very exciting contest, Bailieborough conceded a goal in
the last minute of extra time, which put an end to their dream
of All Ireland glory. Despite this defeat, the players were a
credit to their club and county both on and off the field. Over
the weekend there were many friendships formed with the families
from The Loup and there are plans a foot to arrange a return visit
later in the year.
Under 16s: The Under 16s played St Finbarr’s in the semi
final of the league in Cootehill last week. Despite a gallant
performance they lost out to a strong well-balanced team. They
were trailing by 7 points at half time and although they had a
lot of possession in the second half just couldn’t find
the scores they needed. Nevertheless this was a good performance
and will leave the team looking forward to their first round championship
match against Drumalee.
Under 13s: The team travel to Ballinagh on Thursday evening to
play the locals in the next round of the league.

Piano
Lessons:
Piano Lessons available from well-lit teacher’s residence
riam grades are covered with piano and theory. Children as young
as five years old can start on a pre-instrumental course which
teaches the child about music through numbers and letters.
They typically learn about one tune for one hand each week. They
then progress according to their advancing reading age, which
is determined through a short reading test once every term. Once
their reading age reaches 7, they "graduate" to the
main instrumental course. Children as young as seven years old
can start on the piano. They are taught a beginners course that
lasts between four to six weeks, following which, they start on
the Royal Irish Academy of Music Piano and Theory examinations.
The examinations provide the children with confidence in performance
aswell as technical exercises, through scales, ear tests and sight-reading.
They advance according to Grade. Starting with the Elementary
grade and eventually culminating in the Senior Certificate Grade.
Theory Classes are taught from Grade 1 onwards. Children typically
spend seven to ten years going through the examination process.
Prices are as follows; pre instrumental course (15 minutes) €80.00

to secure a
donation of €1000 from renowned Japanese academic, Prof.
Naoyuki Mizunofrom the University of Kyoto for the refurbishment
of the old Church of Ireland graveyard in Bailieborough.
Prof. Naoyuki Mizuno who visited Bailieborough last year and who
will be a principal speaker at the 2010 Henry James Literary Festival

of the respect he has for the local community here in Bailieborough.
Prof. Mizuno who is an expert on the life and works of Henry James

ancestors and felt that the graveyard should be developed to ensure

able to facilitate this donation.
I know that Rev. Rankin and her parish will put it to great use
and when Prof. Mizuno visits later this year, he will see that
his donation was of great benefit to preserving the memory of
the James Family in Bailieborough’ The Henry James Literary
Festival will run from Friday 3rd September until Sunday 5th September
and will include a children’s drama based production on
