Would you like to see the Government in Action? Guinness Store House and Farmleigh Estate? Well here is your chance
Bailieborough Arts and Cultural Centre is delight to announce it’s 5th Cultural Tour which takes on Thursday 22nd May and will take us to some really exciting and interested venues. This activity packet day will begin with a 9am start with a coach leaving Bailieborough Art Centre and hitting the road for the capital city with first stop at Guinness Store House and Gravity Bar. The Storehouse ® was originally built in 1904 to house the Guinness ® fermentation process. This incredible building was constructed in the style of the Chicago school of architecture, with massive steel beams providing the support for the structure of the building.

The Storehouse ® building housed the fermentation of Guinness ® beer until 1988. The core of the Guinness Storehouse® building is modelled on a giant pint glass If filled, this giant pint would hold approximately 14.3 million pints of Guinness®! After the guided tour of this fascinating building, you will have the pleasure of a complementary glass of Guinness in the Gravity Bar while viewing the panoramic cityscape of Dublin.

Next Stop, Dáil Éireann or Leinster House - the two houses of the Irish Parliament (Oireachtas). The lower house, the Dail, and the upper house is the Seanad. Erected in 1745 for the Duke of Leinster, and designed by Richard Cassels is thought to have influenced the architecture of the White House in the United States of America.

Two American presidents, John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton visited Leinster House. And now it’s your turn to visit Dáil Éireann and view the government sitting to discuss and debate the issues of the day. Local Minister, TD’s and Senators will be there to greet us on the day.

Then it is of to Farmleigh Estate in the Phoenix Park. It covers an area of 79 acres and contains many beautiful features including the Main House, which is a fine example off Georgian-Victorian architecture, the Sunken Garden, the Walled Garden, the famous Clock Tower, the Lake and the Art Gallery. Another of our capital city’s proud treasures.

Finally after all of that it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy a three course evening meal in the comfortable surroundings of the Halfway House before hitting the highway home. Book your seat now by contacting Niamh Smyth, Curator on 042 – 966 66 66.
