Mrs. Angela Farrell:
It was with very deep sadness that the community learned of
the sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. Angela Farrell (nee
McGuirk), Tandragee, Bailieborough, at Our Lady of Lourdes
Hospital, Drogheda, on Sunday, April 22nd.
Aged just 57 years, Angela was originally a member of the
very well known and respected McGuirk family of Anne Street.
In her early days, Angela attended St. Annes Girl’s
National School and when she left school, Angela went to work
in the local boot and shoe factory of George Earl and Co.
In 1969 Angela got married to Benny Farrell and they had three
children together. Angela was a devoted mother and wife, who
took great pride in her family. She was always a happy and
jolly person who looked on the bright side of life and her
presence within the community will be deeply missed by all.
Predeceased by her husband, Benny in 1997, Angela is survived
by her son, Niall (Tandragee), daughters, Edel (Bexcourt View)
and Julie (Tandragee) and three grandchildren, Ryan, Natalie
and Adam, to whom deepest sympathy is extended. Angela is
also survived by her brothers, Michael (Tullinaskeagh) and
Owen (Bexcourt View) and by her sisters, Mrs. Greta Collins
(Crocknahattina), Mrs. Kathleen Gormley (Tullinaskeagh) and
Mrs. Rose Gallagher (New York), nieces, nephews, relatives
and a wide circle of friends.
A very large and representative attendance was present at
the removal of Angela’s remains to St. Annes Chapel
on Tuesday evening, April 24th and following Funeral Mass
on Wednesday morning, April 25th—at which Fr. John Murphy
P.P. officiated assisted by the Bailieborough Folk Choir—Angela’s
remains were laid to rest in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

Northern Sound/ Bailieborough Mini-Marathon:
The 11th staging of the very successful Bailieborough
Mini-Marathon took place last Sunday. On one of the hottest
days of the year so far nearly 250 men, women and children
lined up to take part in the event. ‘Junior Walker’
from Northern Sound Radio got the event under way and some
35 minutes later, the first participant arrived back at the
Community Centre. The atmosphere was fantastic on the day
and lots of people used the event to raise much-needed funds
for local charities. People travelled from far and near to
take part in the event and by doing so ensured the success
of this now permanent fixture on the town’s calendar.
Mary Carolan—the organiser of the event—would
like to acknowledge the sponsorship from Shannon Side/ Northern
Sound Radio and to thank all Staff and Management of the Bailieborough
Leisure Centre, members of the Red Cross, Junior Walker (Radio
Presenter), ‘T-Bone’ Disco, the management of
the Community Centre, all the participants and everyone who

all should be in perfect order.
