Congratulations to everyone who reached the summit of Donard and hopefully the pains and aches weren't too bad on the next day. By the way Sliabh Donard is 853 metres or 2800 feet high.

I would like to thank everyone who generously donated money and a special thanks to anyone who filled sponsorship cards. Also a special thanks to the people from Navan and Treddagh Trekkers who helped on the day.

When I first thought of a sponsored walk I never dreamed that almost sixty people would complete the challenge to the top of Donard. In excess of €3,500 in sponsorship has come in so far, with some cards still to come in. If anyone has sponsorship money to hand in, I will be at the Fair Green on Sun morning or you can post it to me at; Spillane Landscapes, Clongill, Donaghpatrick, Navan.

Bailieborough Shamrocks Under Age
This will be a very busy week for the club as two of our teams are involved in semi finals. On Thursday night the under 12s play Lurgan in Lavey (see fixtures for times) whilst the Under 14s take on old rivals Kingscourt on Sunday next in Virginia at 11.30 am. Both of these games should be exciting and competitive affairs considering the local rivalry and the fact that the teams are fairly evenly matched. Regardless of the outcome it is a great achievement to have teams at this stage in both these grades. The under 16s have also reached the semi final in Roinn A of the League and it is expected that the minors will also reach this stage. All in all this is a very impressive level of achievement and whilst there is nothing won yet, it is very encouraging to have teams who can match the best at all four grades.

Feile Uladh
The under 14s had an enjoyable day in the Ulster Feile competition on Saturday last. They played two matches losing to Sean Stinsons from Antrim and beating Lisnaskea from Fermanagh. The most important thing was that all the players got a run and that the event proved to be a very good dress rehearsal for the upcoming National Feile finals in late June in which Bailieboro will represent County Cavan.

Newry Blitz
Meanwhile the best performance of the week award goes to the Under 10s who participated in the prestigious Newry Under 10 Blitz on Saturday last. Having performed very well in the group stages it was no disgrace to be eliminated following a narrow defeat by a very strong Lavey team from Derry who went on to contest the final. The young boys gave a great account of themselves and certainly were not out of place at this level- they represented their club with great distinction. Credit is due to team manager Padraig Farrelly and his many helpers for a great day’s work.
