Bailieborough Development Association Ltd (BDA) was
established in 1996 by a number of local people who were concerned
about the social and economic well being of the area. This
group of people had commissioned Fitzpatrick and Associates
to carry social and economic research on Bailieborough and
its environs. The goals and objectives of BDA are to implement
the recommendations contained in the report.
The mission statement of Bailieborough Development
Association is:

being of the Bailieborough area in an all-inclusive manner.
The focus of Bailieborough Development Association
(BDA Group) is in three main areas, BDA Enterprise, BDA Training
& Consulting and BDA Childcare. In the autumn of 2002
BDA established an office in the town with a manager and administrator.
The purpose of this office is to manage all the projects of
BDA including the implementation of the development and peace
building strategy and also to give the organisation a presence
within the community.
This project is supported by ADM/CPA under
the EU Peace II Programme and part-financed by the Irish government
under the National Development Plan’.

the construction of an enterprise centre on the site of an
old factory at Stonewall, which is outside the town on the
Virgina road. 8000 sq. ft. of workspace was constructed with
the assistance of funding from International Fund for Ireland,
Forbait, Interreg, Cavan County Enterprise Board and local
contributions. The centre is fully occupied with four tenant
companies and 23 people employed.
BDA have received funding from Enterprise
Ireland International Fund for Ireland and Cavan County Enterprise
Board to develop a second phase of the enterprise centre,
which will be located in the town on a site provided by Cavan
County Council.
